Lawmaker wants increase milk production, consumption

Legislator of Commission X of the House of Representatives (DPR), Dwita Ria Gunadi wants to increase milk production and consumption because the per capita milk consumption in the country is still lower than other Asian countries. "The per capita milk consumption in 2015, based on data from the Agriculture Ministry was only 12.1 liters per annum," Dwita Ria Gunadi said in a written statement here on Thursday (10/11). The per capita consumption is still is still lower than the per capita consumption of India, which reached 48.62 liters per annum, Singapores 44.5 liters and Malaysias 36.2 liters.

Asian Agri to optimize excess supply from biogas power plants

Palm oil heavyweight PT Asian Agri is seeking buyers of its excess electricity being produced by its biogas power plants in Sumatra that have been in operation since last year. Asian Agri, a subsidiary of the Singapore-based Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) conglomerate group, currently has five biogas plants: two each in Riau and North Sumatra and one in Jambi, each capable of producing up to 2 megawatts (MW). Asian Agri mill manager Parnel Saragih said the firm was interested in selling the excess power supply to any party, including state electricity company PLN.

Indonesia Exports, Imports Grow in October, Their Best Month Since 2014

Indonesia's exports and imports both increased in October after months of deterioration from a year earlier, the statistics bureau said on Tuesday (15/11). A Reuters poll had forecast growth for both exports and imports, following a long period in which both shrank on an annual basis. The bureau said Indonesia exported $12.68 billion of products in October, up 4.60 percent from a year ago, versus the 4.29 percent growth expected in the poll.
