Soc Trang Purple Onion value chain analysis

A team of consultants from R&D, Sourcing, Quality Assurance, Business Development and Marketing will interview hundreds of stakeholders in Soc Trang and Ho Chi Minh City. Based on the findings of the value chain analysis, a detailed action plan will be made to develop the purple onion sector. The plan will be presented back to stakeholders from the sector, including input suppliers, farmers, traders, and buyers during a workshop. Based on their feedback, a final proposal will be developed and presented to Soc Trang province.

Deputy PM wants more international integration

A large number of foreign investors are expressing their keen interest in Vietnam's retail market, according to a report of The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) issued on February 27. EIU forecast that foreign companies will continue expanding their business activities in Vietnam in the coming years.

"One way to deal with climate change is to find varieties which are highly adaptable to weather changes. Normally, the indigenous varieties are the most adaptable because they have been grown for a long time and are closely adapted to the weather in a certain area. However, the quality of those varieties has gradually degraded over time. Our Institute is studying ways to preserve the indigenous varieties while developing new cultivation methods for growing them".
