Vietnam: City property market to change

City property market to change

HCM City's real estate market in the 2017-20 period will see major changes as supply and demand will gradually adjust, stabilising and strengthening the market, according to the city's Real Estate Association. In its latest report on the real estate market in the second half of 2017, the association said there would be a switch from high-end projects to mid- and low-end segments to meet demand from people with lower incomes.

FDI into property sector continues rising

The Vietnamese real estate sector has attracted a total foreign direct investment (FDI) of USD701 million in the first half of this year, up 16 percent on-year. According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the property sector was the fifth most popular area for investment for FDI between January and June this year.

Vietnam to continue fuel import

Vietnam will continue importing fuels given an annual shortage of about 0.8 million tons of petrol and 1.8 million tons of diesel oil (DO) in the next five years. According to a report issued June 26 by Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Company (BSR), the operator of the US$3-billion Dung Quat Oil Refinery in Quang Ngai Province, the country is projected to consume 6.5 million tons of gasoline and 8.5 million tons of DO from 2018 to 2022.

New regulations to prevent conflicts of interest in corporate governance

From August 1, members of the board of directors, supervisors, director or director general, and other managers of a public company will be required to make public their related interests as prescribed by law. Such is provided in Government Decree No. 71 signed on June 6, providing corporate governance regulations applicable to public companies.

Gov't extends visa-exemption policy for five European countries

The Government has agreed to extend visa exemption policy for citizens from the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy. Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung released the news at the press conference. The policy, which will be extended until June 30, 2018, allows citizens from the five European countries to visit Vietnam without having to apply for visa with the time limit of stay in Viet Nam not exceeding 15 days since the day they get entry permit to Vietnam.

22 legal documents issued in April

The Government and the PM issued 22 legal documents, including 18 Government's Decrees and four PM's Decisions in April 2017. Decree No. 33/2017/ND-CP on administrative violations in mineral and water resource sectors includes five chapters and 68 articles. It was issued by the Government on April 3, 2017.

Circular tightens entry and exit of portable alcohol, cigars, gold

The Ministry of Finance has issued Circular No.52/2017/TT-BTC amending Circular No. 120/2015/TT-BTC dated August 14, 2015, promulgating forms, printing, issuance, management and use of customs declarations for incoming and outgoing passengers, which sets limits on portable goods for alcohol, cigars and gold.

Hue to invest US$52 million in agricultural restructuring

Vietnam sees growing potential for chicken export

Speaking at the conference, Gabor Fluit, general director of De Heus Asia, which specializes in animal nutrition, stated that Japan imports nearly one million metric tons of poultry a year, with Brazil being the largest exporter with 420,000 metric tons in 2016. During the first phase, Koyu & Unitek is expected to supply 300 metric tons of chicken per month, leaving many opportunities for other Vietnamese businesses to join the market, Fluit said.

Find ways to step up EU exports, VN firms urged

Dang Hoang Hai, head of the European Market Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, was speaking to the Vietnam News Agency on the even of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc's visit to Germany and Holland and participation to G20 Meeting (July 5-7). He said EU was a large and potential market with 28 member countries and a total population of 500 million people. For several years, Vietn am has enjoyed a trade surplus with the EU market, he noted.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc begins visit to the Netherlands

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc arrived in Amsterdam capital on July 8, beginning his visit to the Netherlands at the invitation of PM Mark Rutte.
