Context, living and working abroad by Michael Lugmayr & Eva Dijkstra

Wednesday 12 October 2016

Image: Design by Toko

Dutch couple Michael Lugmayr and Eva Dijkstra run Design by Toko and Print Gallery by Toko and are no strangers to moving around. Both lived in Europe, USA and since 10 years they call Australia home.

Throughout their careers, the designers realised how quintessential ‘context’ is in their creative practise and personal lives. Geographic, social and inspirational context heavily inform their creative output and way of life.

The understanding and appreciation of this complex issue makes their practise such a powerhouse in Australian design. Recently awarded the Australian Design Honours by the ADC for bringing their Dutch sensibility to Australian graphic design thereby raising the bar for contemporary design solutions both here and internationally.

Michael will discuss the agencies journey from Rotterdam to Sydney and how understanding context helped to create a unique signature to become a highly sought after practise for all things (graphic) design.

He will further elaborate on current and recent Design by Toko projects for clients including the City of Sydney, the White Rabbit Gallery, ADC, the Australian Institute of Architects and many more.

Please visit our website for more information about Design by Toko and the location.

Where: Australian Design Centre, 101-115 William Street Darlinghurst NSW 2010

A big thank you to Rabobank Australia and Harry de Bruijn for having us over!
