Economic mission to Australia with Lilianne Ploumen and to New-Zealand with Henk Kamp

31 October – 9 November 2016

The registration for the economic mission to Australia with Lilianne Ploumen, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, on the 31st of October to the 4th of November 2016, and with Henk Kamp, Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs, to New Zealand on the 7th to the 9th of November is now closed! Interest in the mission, which takes place parallel to the State visit of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, proved substantial.

More than 100 Dutch companies are anxious to visit Australia and discover business opportunities.

One strongly represented sector is Agriculture and Food. Not surprising, as the Netherlands is one of the world's largest exporters of agricultural and food products, thanks to its innovative agrifood technology. The Dutch agrifood sector is a sustainable source of healthy, safe food that is produced with respect for nature and the environment.

Other sectors that the mission will focus on are Horticulture, Water, Life Sciences and Health, Logistics and Infrastructure, Sport and Smart Cities.

Where:  Adelaide/Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

OTAZU teams up with the Mauritshuis

New Radical Orange video released about Giethoorn

Radical Orange has produced a new video for ANYDOKO, a travel video channel featuring original travel video series covering destinations from around the world.

The video, which was released on ANYDOKO's Facebook page, features the Dutch town Giethoorn and elaborates on why this water town could be better than Venice.

Arcadis and APP appointed to Canberra's Light Rail Project

Arcadis, the leading global Design & Consultancy firm for natural and built assets, in association with APP, have been appointed as the Independent Certifier on Canberra's light rail project.

As part of the ACT Government's vision to deliver a truly sustainable and creative city, Canberra's light rail project aims to provide incentives for people to use public transport while managing congestion caused by population growth.

Arcadis, as Independent Certifier alongside APP, will be required to review and verify the design, procurement, construction and commissioning of the light rail and its associated infrastructure according to the contract documentation outlined by the Territory Government.

NewCold's first warehouse in Australia

NewCold is currently developing two major warehousing projects west of Melbourne, consisting of a multi-temperature storage facility and a frozen storage facility. Both buildings are automated high-bay warehouses using similar innovative technologies and systems with a strong focus on automation, and these will be the largest single-facility temperature-controlled storage facilities in the southern hemisphere. The warehouses will be opened in the course of 2017.

Recently, dairy-giant Fonterra has announced that is has agreed upon a long-term partnership with NewCold, starting mid next year. NewCold is very pleased to add the well-known brand Fonterra to its customer portfolio and is looking forward to be part of Fonterra's supply chain optimization.

Eijkelkamp at IWA Conference in Brisbane

Eijkelkamp will be taking part at the World Water Conference and Exhibition (IWA) in Brisbane on 9-14 October 2016. They invite anyone attending to come visit for a rundown on their soil and water testing equipment and services.

The conference is a global event for water professionals and offers new insights into how pioneering science, technological innovation and leading practices shape the major transformation in water management that is underway.

New crane orders with a combined lifting capacity of 20,000mt for Huisman

Huisman, the worldwide specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, has secured new crane contracts with a total value of around 300 million Euro from various major offshore, shipping and wind farm installation contractors.

The cranes will be built at the Huisman production facilities in The Netherlands, Czech Republic and China. Deliveries are scheduled for late 2017, 2018 and 2019.

What's Happening?


IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition 2016

9-13 October 2016

From 9 until 13 October the IWA (International Water Association) World Water Congress & Exhibition 2016 will take place in Brisbane. The Netherlands will be represented in the form of a Netherlands Water Pavillion and a substantial contribution in the field of, amongst others, water solutions for cities. The Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) will also launch the call for ideas of the Amsterdam International Water Week and the new international water technology campaign in cooperation with the TKI Water Technology. Dutch-Australian Smart City Summit

3 November 2016

The Dutch Government, together with the Australian Smart Communities Association (ASCA) is organising a Dutch–Australian Smart City Summit.

The event is part of the 400 year anniversary of the landing of Dirk Hartog on the Australian West Coast in 1616. For the occasion, the Dutch King and Queen will pay a State visit to Australia and Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Lilianne Ploumen is leading a trade mission which includes a smart city delegation.

This delegation will visit smart city activities in Adelaide, Canberra, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Ipswich and Sunshine Coast. The Dutch-Australian Smart City Summit will be held on 3 November.

The interest of the Dutch Government in Smart Cities lies in establishing long term relationships between Dutch and Australian smart cities and the business and research organisations involved in making this happen. The aim is to learn from each other, share experiences and work together on strategies and projects where possible. The Dutch-led international GSC3 organisation provides an umbrella function for these activities. See their website here.

At the Summit, the Dutch Minister and the Dutch delegation will update the Australian delegates of the Summit on the developments in the Netherlands. The City of Amsterdam is consistently in the global top ten of smart cities. Eindhoven, The Hague and Rotterdam are also well advanced in their smart city programmes.
