PLN, Private Firms Join Hands to Build Solar Power Plant

State-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Region has joined hands with PT Global Karya Mandiri and PT Indo Solusi Utama to build solar power plants in Atambua and Flores. Marison, Business Director of PT PLN Sulawesi-NTT Region, who witnessed the signing of the power purchase agreement, Wednesday, September 14, 2016, said the power plant constructions are part of the 35,000 MW program.

Govt Prepares Options to Overcome Shortage of State Revenues

The Finance Ministry is preparing several options to deal with the possibility of state revenues falling short of the target and to keep a deficit of the state budget at less than three percent. To that end, the ministry will comb each of the existing budget items to optimize revenues and save spending in order to meet the target of budget deficit at less than 3 percent as the maximum limit pursuant to the state finance law, director of the ministry`s state budget affairs, Kunta Wibawa said in a discussion at the Core Indonesia office on Tuesday (6/9).

Indonesia's trade balance sees August declines

The economy has recorded a US$293.6 million surplus in its August trade balance, with $12.63 billion in exports and $12.34 billion in imports, according to the latest trade data released by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) on Thursday (15/9). The surplus slightly decreased from the July figure which stood at $598.3 million, as the country saw higher growth in imports than growth in exports.

Swedish govt plans to develop waste power plant in West Lombok

The Swedish government plans to build a biogas power plant from waste collected at a landfill in West Lombok district, West Nusa Tenggara province. "The Swedish government will use the wastes to produce biogas. The equipment will be directly brought from the country after conducting a survey," a representative of the Swedish government, Thomas Croock, said here on Monday (19/9). Croock and the Swedish government team have visited the landfill together with the local government staff members.

Pertamina to Receive First LPG Shipment from Iran on Sept 26

State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina said it expects to receive on September 26 first shipment of liquified petroleum gas (LPG) from its Iranian counterpart the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC). "We have signed the agreement and the first LPG shipment from Iran to Indonesia is scheduled for September 26 to 27," Pertamina Senior Vice President Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) Daniel Purba said Wednesday (21/9) at Pertamina Headquarters in Jakarta. Daniel said Pertamina needs LPG supply from Iran to meet high demand for the commodity in Indonesia. Indonesia and Iran signed in August a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that covers LPG sales for 2016 and 2017.

Sri Mulyani Focuses to Push Economic Growth

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati explained her strategy in pushing economic growth within the next three months. According to her, one of the significant indicators in economic growth is people's consumption. Therefore, the government will maintain the inflation rate to keep the flow of people's consumption. "Consumption will be kept at a low inflation rate so it will keep people's confidence to purchase," Sri Mulyani said Thursday, September 22, 2016. As from the demand side, Sri explained, the growth would be pushed from investments, people's consumption, government spending, as well as export and import.
