Govt Grants Import Permits for 123,800 Cattle, More to Come

The government has agreed to let 32 feedlot operators import 123,800 cattle until the end of 2016, Dody Edward, director general of foreign trade at the Ministry of Trade, said on Friday (28/10). This was the first import permits granted since the government discarded its old import quota system and replaced it with a requirement for importers to bring in one breeding cattle for every five feeder cattle they import.

Foreign Direct Investment to Indonesia Rises 7.8% in Q3

Foreign direct investment (FDI) into Indonesia rose 7.8 percent in the third quarter from a year earlier, in rupiah terms, the country's investment board said on Thursday (27/10). There was Rp 99.7 trillion of investment during the July-September period, excluding investment in banking and the oil and gas sector, the board said. The board said the dollar equivalent for the third quarter FDI was $7.4 billion.
