East Kalimantan sets to expand oil palm plantations in 2018

The provincial administration of East Kalimantan has set target for its oil palm plantations at 1.6 million hectares with annual production of 18 million tons of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) in 2018. Success in the implementation of the program would strengthen and improve the quality of East Kalimantans economy, head of the provincial plantation office Ujang Rachmad said here on Sunday (12/3). Through its regional Mid Term Development Plan (RPJMD) East Kalimantan sets its target of 1 million hectares for the second phase to be implemented in 2018, Ujang said.

Environmentally Friendly Cirebon Power Plant to Operate by 2020

Power plant operator company PT Cirebon Energi Prasarana expected that the environmentally friendly Cirebon Unit II Power Plant in Kanci can be fully operational by the end of 2020. PT Cirebon Energi Prasarana president director Heru Dewanto said that Cirebon Unit II Power Plant will have a capacity of 1,000 megawatts (MW). The project is financed by a syndicate of Japanese and South Korean banks. "The Unit II power plant is worth around 2.2 billion US dollar. All from foreign loans and authorized capital or paid-up capital. So, the loan is 75 percent, the equity is 25 percent," Heru said.

Jokowi wants Indonesia in 40th place on doing business index

President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has reaffirmed his desire for Indonesia to jump to 40th place on the World Bank's Ease of Doing Business (EODB) index in 2018 from its current 91st position. "While we reached 91st place last year, our target is to reach 40th. We have to analyze everything in detail whether it's our licensing or regulations that remain problematic," he said during the opening of a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday (15/3).
