Ten Percent of State Transportation Budget Goes for Papua

The Ministry of Transportation allocates 10 percent of its budget this year for Papua. Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the policy is an implementation of the equitable development program in eastern Indonesia. The funds will be used to build infrastructure, finance the marine highway program, run the air bridge program, and subsidize the transport of goods by plane.

PLN Will Buy Excess Power From Coal-Fired Plants at 90% of Production Costs: Ministry

The government guarantees that state-owned utility company Perusahaan Listrik Negara, or PLN, will purchase excess electricity produced by coal-fired power plants at a maximum price, equivalent to 90 percent of the cost to supply electricity, director general at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said on Friday (03/03). Director general of electricity at the ministry, Jarman, said the scheme is expected to ease the burden of independent power producers in dealing with their costs, and offers a better business option for PLN's power suppliers.

Central Bank, Foreign Affairs Ministry Agree on Collaboration to Draw Investment

Bank Indonesia, the central bank, and the Foreign Affairs Ministry have agreed on a deal to exchange information and improve manpower to attract more investment into the country. Bank Indonesia Governor Agus Martowardojo and Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi signed the memorandum of understanding for the agreement in Jakarta on Friday (03/03). A similar agreement had been signed back in 2008. "Bank Indonesia and the Foreign Ministry need a stronger partnership to face pressure from the global economy," Agus said in a statement.
