In This Edition

It is the time of year again to start thinking about filing taxes (here in Massachusetts we do not need to file until April 18 ...)

  • Monday, March 20, 2017 - Filing US Taxes. Also this year Maria van de Bosch will explain US tax filing for first-time filers who are here temporarily, but  her talk is also interesting for the "local Dutch" who are here to stay. There will be plenty of time for asking lots of questions. Please note that this event was rescheduled to March 20 (vs. March 21).
Save the Date
  • Sunday, April 30, 2017  Koningsdag Celebration - Second edition of the Koningsdag Celebration jointly organized by the NAF  and the Eerste Nederlandstalige School in Boston (ENSiB). The celebration will again be held in Cambridge. Because we are expecting 250-300 people, we are looking for volunteers to make everything go smoothly. Please contact if you want to help.

We are always looking for volunteers to help organize social, cultural and business events and help with our social media activities. Volunteering is a great way to expand your network and learn new skills. No experience required.

NAF event registration fees are non-refundable, however transfer of tickets to people who fit the same ticketing category will be permitted.

US Tax Filing for Non-Residents

Monday, March 20, 2017
5:30-8:00 pm

45 Prospect Street
Cambridge, MA 02139

It is the time of year again to start preparing for filing taxes. For many non-resident aliens (e.g. from the planet Holland …) this is an unfamiliar and scary process.

Maria van den Bosch, EA, LL.M (Leiden University), Van den Bosch Tax Consulting, LLC, is an independent tax expert. She is an “Enrolled Agent” which means she passed the IRS exams required to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service.

Maria will give an overview of the process for ‘aliens’, whether on a J1, F1 or other visa, who are required to file their taxes. Also “residents” for whom the tax system remains a mystery are welcome.

The session will focus on which forms to file, what income needs to be reported, which deductions apply and a short introduction to the tax treaties between the US and the Netherlands.

There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

The number of seats is limited to 20. Book now!

The registration fee covers drinks and snacks, which will help make talking about taxes more fun …
