Govt Establishes Nunukan as National Food Center in Border Area

The Ministry of Agriculture has established Nunukan, North Kalimantan province as the national food center in the area bordering Malaysia. Director for Fruits and Horticulture of the Ministry of Agriculture, Sarwo Edhy, here, Thursday (30/3), stated the establishment of Nunukan as the food center in the border is a government program of building Indonesia from the peripheries. For that, he visited Sebatik island to see the potential of agriculture and obstacles that still faced by the local people.

Finance Ministry No Longer Relies on Oil and Gas Sector

Head of Fiscal Policy in the Ministry of Finance, Suahasil Nazzara, said that the state revenue decline from the oil and gas sector sparked the urge to push tax revenues. He argues that it isn't the time anymore to depend on revenues generated by the oil and gas sector. "That era of depending on the oil and gas sector as a main state revenue source has ended," Suahasil said on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.

RI`s economy to grow higher than expected: ADB

Indonesia could witness higher-than-expected economic growth if it could implement a consistent structural reform, deputy country director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) said. "Indonesia could see an economic growth higher than expected, as its growth potential is ranged between 5.5 to 6 percent," Sona Shrestha said here on Thursday (6/4). In addition to structural reform, Shrestha noted that such a high economic growth could be achieved through sustainable development of infrastructure and efforts to narrow skills gap.  An economic growth of 5.6 percent in 2018, as projected by the government, could be reached with some improvements in domestic performance and global economic recovery.
