City Plans to Extend New Transjakarta Corridor 13 to Tangerang

Acting Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat inspected Transjakarta's new corridor 13 on Monday (15/05) and laid out plans to extend the commuter line to the residential area of Puri Beta in Ciledug, Tangerang.  Djarot inspected segments of the corridor in the South Jakarta neighborhood of Tendean, where the route originates, to check for adequate safety measures at bus stops and flyover lanes along the new line. The corridor, which is set to launch to coincide with the anniversary of Jakarta's founding on June 22, will be Transjakarta's longest line and will connect Tendean with the Ciledug neighborhood of nearby Tangerang.

Trade surplus supports current account balance: BI

Bank Indonesia said the trade surplus of US$1.24 billion in April 2017 shored up the country current account balance. "Bank Indonesia sees that the positive performance of the country's international trade in April 2017 contributed to the position of the country's current account balance," Executive Director of the Communication Department of the Central Bank Tirta Segara said here on Monday (15/5).

BI predicts economy to grow 5.1% in Q2

Bank Indonesia (BI) has predicted the country's economy will grow 5.1 percent year-on-year in the second quarter from April to June this year due to further improvement in export performance. "Our projection is 5.1 percent in the second and third quarters, and it could be above 5.2 percent in the fourth quarter," central bank governor Agus Martowardojo said at a press conference here, Thursday (18/5). BI has seen the country's export performance continue to improve following increasing demand for commodities from China and India, while in the manufacturing industry demand from European importers has also increased.
