Government to build Rp3 trillion dam in Jayawijaya

The Central Government will build a dam to cost Rp3 trillion in the regency of Jayawijaya, Papua to be completed in 2019. Deputy General Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce for Eastern Indonesia Andi Ruman N Karumpa said the project is currently in the process of designing. "The water reservoir will supply clean water for farmers in Jayawijaya and people living in the mountainous area," Andi Ruman said when opening a meeting of the leaders of the Papua branch of the Indonesian Federation of National Construction Executives (Gapensi)in this municipal town of the Jayawijaya district on Tuesday (18/4).

Govt Sets Sugar Output Target at 1.2 Million for 2017

The Indonesian government has set the target of sugar production for 2017 at 1.2 million tons, Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita said. "The target for sugar production for this year will not be reduced. We hope our sugar production will reach a minimum of 1.2 million tons this year," he said after visiting the Madukismo sugar mill in Bantul district, Yogyakarta province, on Friday evening (April 21).

In Q1, Indonesia reaches 24.4% of 2017 investment target

Indonesia pocketed Rp 165.8 trillion (US$12.5 billion) in investment in the first quarter of the year, or 24.4 percent of the 2017 investment target of Rp 678.8 trillion, the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) announced on Wednesday (26/4). This figure is a 13.2 percent increase from the Rp 146.5 trillion in investment recorded in the same quarter last year. Investment from local investors progressed significantly by 36.4 percent year-on-year (yoy) to Rp 68.8 trillion, while investment from foreign investors only grew by 0.94 percent to Rp 97 trillion.
