Hong Kong Smart City Blue Print under Review
 
In December 2017 the Hong Kong government presented the Hong Kong Smart City Blue Print. The Environment & Energy Business Council of the European Chamber presents in April a position paper with a review of the measures proposed to create a Smart Environment and profound recommendations on how to make Hong Kong more sustainable. The Chairman, Tom Uiterwaal, will present the views of the European Business Community on how to make Hong Kong a world class sustainable smart city.

Vacancy: General Manager European Chamber HK

The General Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, including the management of the office. Two tier tax rate comes into effect on April 1

The two-tiered profits tax rates regime will be applicable to any year of assessment commencing on or after April 1, 2018. The profits tax rate for the first $2 million of profits of corporations will be lowered to 8.25 per cent. Profits above that amount will continue to be subject to the tax rate of 16.5 per cent. For unincorporated businesses (i.e. partnerships and sole proprietorships), the two-tiered tax rates will correspondingly be set at 7.5 per cent and 15 per cent. A tax-paying corporation or unincorporated business may save up to $165,000 and $150,000 each year respectively.
