News JUNE 2019 Looking back at a Fantastic Winsemius Awards Gala!  Last week, we celebrated the 5th edition of our annual Winsemius Awards Gala. The past five years it has grown into a worthy flagship event for and by the Dutch business community in Singapore, and I dare say it is getting even better every year. I would like to express my gratitute to the organizing teams under the leadership of Marleen Dieleman, Meike de Both and Maarten van Wel; you deserve a big thank you!   People come and go, and even more so in Singapore. As announced in our previous Newsletter, our board member Wouter Muis is going back to the Netherlands. We are lucky to have found an excellent successor in Marjolein Oyen-Driesens. Marjolein is new to Singapore but comes from Shanghai with lots of experience and drive, and will take over from Wouter in September.     A familiar face that we will be welcoming into the board of ADB-DutchCham is Maarten van Wel. He will be dedicated to our Orange Members, a group that Maarten will aim to grow. Our first new Orange member is Vanderlande, whom I would hereby like to welcome to ADB-DutchCham. Maarten's move to the board does mean that the position of Executive Director is now vacant. The search for candidates has begun and applications can be sent to [email protected]   With board member Aleid de Savornin Lohman going back to the Netherlands in July, another position that will become vacant is Secretary of the Board, an exciting role that includes a.o. coordination of our committees. We welcome enthusiastic ADB-DutchCham members to apply via the above mentioned email address. Aleid and Wouter, thank you for your support and contributions to ADB-DutchCham, we will miss you and best of luck with your new endeavours in the Netherlands.   Over the summer months fewer events will take place, but we still have a few great events planned –  have a look at our event calender and mark your agenda. Otherwise, we will see each other again in the new season at the annual Summer BBQ on the 5th of September! Monday 17 June 2019, 5:00 - 7:00 pm HR, Legal & Tax Committee, the interactive Committee! Brainstorm Session!  We want to hear from our committee members! Therefore, everyone who is attending will have the opportunity to give a short introduction and to share what their expectation is from this Committee. Afterwards we will discuss in groups what kind of topics and inspiring speakers our members would like us to focus on. Finally, there will be the opportunity for networking. This event will go into what venture capital is, who the players are, how it is different from other financial products for businesses and why this sector is growing so fast in Singapore.
