Can history help us navigate the future? In the Swedish translation of her book Bättre blir det inte, Dutch journalist Caroline de Gruyter draws parallels between the Habsburg empire and the EU. Muddling through, solving differences with words instead of conflict, accepting half baked decisions arguably provide a better alternative than full fledged war.
